Company Background

Founded in 2005, CPTED Australia is a specialist security and advisory consultancy supporting commercial, government, and community projects across Australia. We have grown into a multidisciplinary practice that brings together Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, physical and electronic security, security risk management, and cyber security. As these domains converge, that breadth lets us advise, assess, and design across the full spectrum of a client’s security needs.

Our core services include CPTED assessment reports to support development applications, security risk assessments aligned with ISO 31000 and HB 167, and crowded places assessments aligned with Australia’s Strategy for Protecting Crowded Places from Terrorism. Every engagement applies a risk-based, evidence-driven approach focused on practical, proportionate recommendations.

We are a long-standing Gold Member of ASIAL, representing 16 to 24 years of continuous membership. Clients value our personal, responsive, and highly effective approach, which has earned enduring partnerships across government, critical infrastructure, education, health, and commercial property.

Simon Pollak – Principal Consultant

Simon Pollak is the Principal Consultant at CPTED Australia, with more than 30 years’ experience across Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), physical security, electronic security, and cyber-physical systems. He has led the design, assessment, and delivery of security and risk management solutions for complex projects across commercial, government, and community environments.

Simon’s practice is grounded in a risk-based, evidence-driven approach to security and safety in the built environment. He has extensive experience reviewing architectural plans and development proposals to identify crime and safety risks early, and translating CPTED principles into practical, proportionate recommendations appropriate to planning authority and Police expectations.

With a strong interest in the intersection of physical space, technology, and human behaviour, Simon brings a systems-level perspective to CPTED assessments, ensuring design recommendations are not only sound in principle but operationally realistic and sustainable over the life of a development. His broader background in cyber and technology environments informs a disciplined approach to risk, governance, and resilience, without introducing unnecessary complexity.

Simon is recognised for his ability to work effectively with developers, architects, planners, and regulators, and for delivering clear, well-reasoned advice that supports planning approval while enhancing safety and usability.
